A characteristic feature of this type of clothing is vertical structural seams. Such panitsas are common in the Bolshezemelskaya and Malozemelskaya tundras and beyond the Urals.
Panitsas are sewn entirely from reindeer fur (nyablyui). They are decorated with fur mosaic - a composition of fur pieces of contrasting dark and light colours. They are worn with a belt woven from multi-coloured threads. A copper ring-shaped buckle is sewn closer to one of the belt’s ends.
Panitsa was used by men as home and sleeping wear (a blanket). It can be assumed that that is a relic of loose clothes usage by Nenets men before it became widespread in everyday life.
