Reindeer forehead skin with cuts from the eyes, ears and horns is used for sewing the bonnet. The cuts are sewn up with pieces of different tone fur or pieces of coloured cloth with cloth tassels attached to them.
A large number of copper and iron ornaments are sewn to the bonnet’s back at the bottom edge. The weight of the pendants sometimes reaches 2-2.5 kg. The pendants pull and press the bonnet to the shoulders, as a result - the woman's neck and shoulders are protected from the cold. Besides, heavy ornaments improve a posture not allowing to slouch. Young reindeer herders could choose their bride according to the melodic, smooth and equable sound of the bonnet’s ornaments.
