Different variations of birds images both predatory and waterfowl became widespread in animal style. Birds were an important veneration object for the Finno-Ugric and Samoyed peoples and one of the main motives in mythology and art. Like other animal motives birds could be associated with totems, sacred family line animals. For example, an eagle awl was a totem of one of the Ob-Ugrians clan.
